From The Tee – 05/10/2019

The wet weather finally subsided to allow the whole 18 holes to be open last Saturday just in time for the first round of the club championships. The day also included the October Monthly Medal.

The winner in A Grade by countback was Jack Kerr 75-5-70 from Darren Fox 78-8-70.

B Grade winner Luke Clarke 85-13-72 won from Bernie Sinnott 86-13-73 following a countback with Brian Fitzgerald also finishing with a nett 73.

C Grade winner and also the Monthly Medal was Simon Gill 100-31-69 ahead of Mark Fitzgerald.

Nearest to Pins: 2nd David Absolom, second shot to 7th Tim Fitzgerald, 15th David Absolom, 17th Darren Fox. Putting competition Jack Kerr 27 putts. Longest putt on 18th Tom Moran

Balls down the line required a nett score of 74 or less; Simon Gill, Mark Fitzgerald 69, Jack Kerr, Darren Fox 70, Luke Clarke 72, Brian Fitzgerald, Bernie Sinnott 73, Sam Walsh, Darren Frost, Simon Baker 74.

A good field also played in last Thursday’s nine hole competition with Jack Kerr winning on 19 stableford points after a four way countback from David Absolom, Keith Stephens and Darren Fox  all finishing on 19 points. 

Nearest to Pins: 2nd Bernie Sinnott, 9th Darren Fox.

Leaders in the championships after first round:

A Grade: Jack Kerr 75, Darren Fox 78, Simon Baker 79

B Grade: Luke Clarke 85, Bernie Sinnott, Brian Fitzgerald 86

This week is the second round of the Championships.

Jack Kerr returned the excellent score of one over par at last Saturday’s Stroke event to win the Monthly Medal and privilege pot. Jack won with 73-5-68 ahead of David Absolom 80-9-71.

Nearest to Pins: 2nd Peter Hughes.
Jack showed he had the radar on with the 7th, 9th and 17th Nearest to Pins. Visitor Rowan Heit was on the 15th.

Balls down the line Jack Kerr 68, David Absolom, Simon Baker 71, Tom Moran, Rowen Heit 72.

Putting comp John O’Donohue 25 putts, longest putt on the 18th Jeff Webber, birdie hole 3rd Jack Kerr.

From The Tee – 08/06/2019

A smaller field of players competed in last Saturday’s Par event at the Camperdown Golf Club. Rick Bailey won the day with +3 ahead of Simon Baker on +1.

Conditions were a little tough with only two holes recording Nearest to Pins: 2nd & 7th by Peter Hughes, and the remaining three holes being vacant.

Rick Bailey scored a Birdie a this weeks birdie hole 16th. Rick Bailey, Simon Baker, Col Keane, Peter Hughes all received a ball down the line.

At last Thursday’s nine hole competition Keith Baker won with 22 Stableford points ahead of Mark Winsall with 21.

Nearest to Pins: 2nd Simon Baker, 9th Mark Sinnott. This Saturday is a Stableford event.

From The Tee – 01/06/2019

A three way count back was necessary at last Saturday’s Monthly Medal event with three players finishing with a nett 68. Doug Kenny was the eventual winner receiving the Monthly Medal and privilege pot.

Darren Cheeseman with 81-13-68 was the A Grade winner ahead of Simon Baker 74-6-68. In B Grade, Doug Kenny finished with 97-29-68 ahead of Sam Walsh 89-17-72.

Nearest to Pins: 2nd Col Keane, second shot to the 7th & 15th Darren Fox, 9th & 17th Jack Kerr.

No one scored a Birdie on the 15th, however Simon Baker Eagled the 3rd hole.
Putting competition was won by Rick Bailey with 25 putts. Rick also had the longest putt on the 18th hole.

At the nine hole competition last Thursday Simon Baker finished with 21 Stableford points ahead of Col Keane on 17. Col also had the nearest to pin on the 2nd.

This Saturday is a Par event sponsored by Murray Fry. There is also a Stableford competition on Monday, Queens Birthday.

Fantastic weather and good course conditions resulted in good scoring at last Saturday’s Par event.

Winner on the day was Darren Frost with plus 7 following a count back from Mark Fitzgerald also finishing on plus 7.

Leah Cheeseman won the ladies event also finishing with plus 7.

Nearest to Pins: 2nd Doug Kenny, second shot to 7th Jack Kerr, 15th Shaun McKenzie, 17th Darren Frost. This weeks Birdie hole was the 11th with Troy Stephens, Jack Kerr, David Absolom and Doug Kenny all achieving a birdie.

Balls down the line required a score of plus 1 or more, Darren Frost, Mark Fitzgerald, Leah Cheeseman +7, Geoff Webber +3, Jack Kerr, Rick Bailey +2, David Absolom, Richard Narik, Dale Evans, Ray Jackson +1.

An excellent field of 34 players competed in last Thursday’s nine hole Stableford event.

Winner on the day with 23 points was Ray Jackson ahead of Darren Cheeseman on 22. Nearest to Pins: 2nd Matt Sinnott, 9th Ray Jackson.

This weeks event is the May Monthly Medal and privilege pot.

Another good field competed in last Saturday’s Stableford event.

Winner of A Grade with 43 points was Col Keane ahead of Brian Fitzgerald on 42.

In B Grade Gary Lafferty won with 42 points from Keith Stephens on 40.

Nearest to Pins: 2nd Tom Moran, second shot to 7th Murray Lucas, 9th Keith Baker, 15th Mark Kent, 17th Algie White.

To receive a ball down the line you needed 39 points or more, Col Keane 43, Brian Fitzgerald, Gary Lafferty 42, Keith Stephens 40, Darren Frost, Murray Lucas, Algie White, Norm Tonks, Tony Cronin, Mark Winsall 39.

Col Keane showed he is in good form also winning last Thursday’s nine hole competition with 22 points, by count back from Jeff Collins also on 22.

Bernie Sinnott and David Absolom received a ball down the line.

This weeks event is Stroke.
