Fine weather and excellent course conditions produced high scores at last Saturday’s Stableford event.

Troy Stephens returned an even par 72 off the stick, to score 44 Stableford points to win on the day. Runner up was Darren Fox with 42 points after a countback with Tony Nichols also finishing with 42 points.

Nearest to Pins: 2nd Bernie Sinnott, second shot to 7th Darren Cheeseman, 9th Col Keane, 15th Keith Baker, 17th Col Keane.

The Birdie hole was the 10th and the only birdie scored was by a guest player from Melbourne, Matt Ryan. To receive a ball down the line required 38 points or more, Troy Stephens 44, Darren Fox, Tony Nichols 42, Keith Baker, Mark Sinnott 41, Col Keane, Matt Sinnott 39, Darren Cheeseman, Geoff Webber 38.

Thursday’s nine hole competition saw David Regan win with 23 Stableford points, ahead of Bernie Sinnott on 21.

Nearest to Pins: 2nd Tony Cronin, 9th Brian Fitzgerald. Balls down the line went to Ian Urquhart, Matt Sinnott, Darren Fox, Keith Stephens, Col Keane, Richard Narik, Tony Nichols.

This Saturday is the December Monthly Medal and privilege pot.

From the tee – 11/11/2018

The Camperdown Golf Club held its 2018 annual open tournament over the weekend.

The event was well attended with a chance to win a Car for a Hole-in-One on the par three 9th hole. Sponsored by Colac Toyota. While there were some close shots, no one managed an ace.

Friday was a Mens and Ladies 4BBB, with an excellent field of 84 players competing on the day.

Ladies winners:          Vicki Fitzgerald & Doreen Horan 44 points

Runners up:                Robyn Couch & Maree Finlay 41 points

Nearest to Pins:          2nd R. Couch, 9th M. Dalton, 15th M. Bond, 17th H. Holmes.

Mens winners:            Mark Kent & Andrew Benallack 50 points

Runners up:                Tom Moran & David Regan 46 points

Saturday was a Mens 18 hole Stroke event, with another good field of 43 players.

B Grade Scratch winner:        Sam Walsh 86

Handicap winner:                   Ray Jackson nett 65

Sunday was a mixed Pinehurst with 23 teams competing.

The weekend also ran a progressive longest putt on the 18th: Ladies winner, V. Fitzgerald with 6.06 metre putt. Mens winner, P. Cashmore with 7.77 metre putt.

Fine weather and excellent course conditions greeted competitors in last Saturday’s Crowe Horwath Guest Day. The event was played in Ambrose format.
Winners on the day were Darren Fox, Mark Fitzgerald, Jamie Horan and Ben Gaut nett 52 7/8, from Jeff Collins, Norm Tonks and Ian Henderson 56 4/6.

Nearest to Pins: 9th Ben Gaut, 15th Jamie Horan, 17th Matt Buckle.  

This week is the November Monthly Medal and privilege pot, sponsored by Keith Baker Plumbing.

The following weekend is the Camperdown Open Tournament.

A smaller field of players took part in last Saturday’s Par event at the Camperdown Golf Club in were tough conditions. 

Winner on the day was Keith Baker with +4 from John O’Donohue on +3. Reflecting the tricky condition only one nearest to pin was record on the 7th by Dale Evans. 

Balls down the line required a score of -2 or better: Keith Baker +4, John O’Donohue +3, Tony Cronin +1, Mark Sinnott, Michael Hassett -2. 

At last Thursday’s nine hole competition Troy Stephens won with 20 Stableford points. To split the second place required a four way count back where Michael Hassett on 17 claimed the runner prize ahead of Richard Narik, Mark Sinnott and Bernie Sinnott also on 17 points.

This Saturday is the Crowe Horwath Guest Day, three person Ambrose.

Sixteen players enjoyed the fine weather at last Saturday’s Stableford event. The competition was played using the bottom nine twice again. Hopefully the improved weather will enable the top nine to be opened this week.

Dale Evans returned the excellent score of 46 points to win on the day with Jamie Collins runner up on 40.
Nearest to Pins: 2nd Richard Narik, 9th Simon Baker, 15th & 17th Bernie Sinnott. The Birdie hole was the 16th where Simon Baker and Bernie Sinnott scored birdies.

Balls down the line: Dale Evans 46, Jamie Collins 40, Dale Absolom, Simon Baker, Keith Baker, Bernie Sinnott, John O’Donohue 38 points.

At last Thursday’s nine hole Stableford competition Mark Winsall won with 21 points from Keith Baker on 20.

Tom Moran returned an excellent score of 69-7-62 to claim Saturday’s Monthly Medal and privileged pot by one shot at the Camperdown Golf Club.

Tom’s score of 3 under Par in a stroke event played from the back tee markers ticks all the boxes to be considered a new course record. Runner up in A Grade was David Absolom also with an excellent score of 73-10-63.


In B Grade Andrew Narik won with 83-16-67 by count back from David Regan 81-14-67. Nearest to Pins: 2nd Darren Frost, 7th, 9th and 17th all won by Murray Lucas, 15th Peter Hughes.

The day also incorporated a Putting competition with Tom Moran winning with 25 Putts. The Birdie hole this week was the 8th where Nick Lillie managed a birdie.


Reflecting the good scores on the day, a nett score of 69 or less was required to receive a ball down the line; Tom Moran 62, David Absolom 63, Nick Lillie 65, Andrew Narik, David Regan 67, Darren Frost 68, Murray Lucas, Ray Jackson 69. 

Last Thursday’s nine hole Par event saw Simon Baker continue his great form, returning a two under par score for the second consecutive week. Simon finished with +5 ahead of Peter Skene +3.

This Saturday is a Stableford event.

Paul Stephens returned an excellent score of one over Par 73-6-67 to win A Grade at last Saturday’s Stroke event. Runner up by count back was Nick Lillie 78-10-68 from Jack Kerr and Peter Skene.

Winner of B Grade was Andrew Narik 89-16-73 by count back from Tony Nichols 90-17-73.

Last Thursday’s nine hole competition was also a Stroke event where Simon Baker returned a fantastic score of two under card 34, nett 301⁄2 to win ahead of Ray Jackson with a nett 32.

Matt Sinnott returned an excellent score of 82-17-65 to win the Monthly Medal and privilege pot at last Saturday’s stroke event at the Camperdown Golf Club. Matt’s win was his first Monthly Medal with the runner up in B Grade being Dale Evans on 91-24-67 by countback from Norm Tonks and John O’Donohue.

In A Grade David Absolom continued his good form with 79-10-69 ahead of Algie White 79-9-70. Algie claimed runner up prize following a four way countback including Darren Fox, Col Keane and Tom Moran.

Longest putt on the 18th was Gary Lafferty. Birdie hole was the 4th where Tom Moran and Darren Fox scored birdies, and Tom Moran also won the putting comp with 25 putts.

Given the excellent scores, golfers needed a nett 70 or less to receive a ball down the line: Matt Sinnott 65, Dale Evans, Norm Tonks, John O’Donohue 67, Jeff Collins 68, David Absolom 69,Col Keane, Algie White, Darren Fox, Tom Moran, Keith Stephens 70.

Another excellent field played in Thursday’s nine hole Par event with Leigh van den Berghe returning a fantastic score of +6 to win the night ahead of Matt Sinnott on +3.

Very warm weather last Saturday has not affected the good scoring at the Camperdown Golf Club with Keith Baker winning on 42 points from Leigh van den Berghe on 41.

This weeks birdie hole was the 3rd where Tom Moran and David Absolom scored a birdie.


Balls down the line went to scores of 39 points or more, Keith Baker 42, Leigh van den Berghe, Ricky Bailey 41, Mark Kent 40, Alan Teal, Dale Evens 39. It was a stroke event at last Thursday’s nine hole competition with Ricky Bailey winning on nett 31½ from Keith Baker on nett 35. Nearest to Pins: 2nd was vacant, 9th David Regan.


Balls down the line to David Absolom, Tony Cronin, Simon Baker. The club also ran a Two person Ambrose event last Friday (Australia Day) where Troy Stephens and Darren Cheeseman won with a nett 61¼ from John O’Donohue and Andrew Narik on a nett 62.

David Absolom returned a fantastic score of one over the card 73 to take out last Saturday’s Stroke event. David won with 73/12/61 from Tom Clissold 76/13/63.

The Birdie hole was the 2nd where Bernie Sinnott and Andrew Narik managed a Birdie, with Tom Moran scoring an Eagle on the 8th.

Balls down the line went to nett scores of 68 or less, David Absolom 61, Tom Clissold 63, Bernie Sinnott, Sean McKenzie 67, Keith Stephens Tom Moran 68.

It was a Stableford competition at last Thursday’s nine hole event, with Paul Stephens winning on 24 points from David Absolom on 21. This Saturday is a Stableford event. Due to the expected hot weather, members can hit off from 7:30am.
